My mother has taught me many things. Everything, really. But among them are key tenants to style which I adhere to daily…Never skimp on make-up or facial care; always use eye cream; black never goes out of style; you can never have too much champagne. My mother also never EVER let me dress even the least bit inappropriately. My skirts were never to short, my shirts never to low, the fit never too tight. To this day I am grateful that while I have certainly had my share of fashion disasters, they have never embarrassed me personally. In the after-glow of Kate Middleton’s exemplary display of taste, class and style, we’ve seen proof that it is no small thing for a mother to pass both style and restraint to her daughter. A lesson which, I am sad to say, should be taught to a much greater degree to today’s young women.
Diatribe against every show on MTV aside, My Mom, Style Icon is lovely, just lovely. A perfect gift for any mother new or old; a great treat for yourself to remind you of your roots. The book was authored by Piper Weiss who penns a blog of the same theme.
Love you, Mom!
